House for a sculptor
Concept Design – 2001
The house is located in a very narrow plot, just 6m wide. The program includes parking for a car, and the optimal space for a sculptor to live and work at his home. The main idea is to project “the house inside the house”, as a result of a continuous space that emerges from the main room and links all of them.
The garage is located in the basement, along with the kitchen, a small toilet, an indoor garden and a guest room. At street level there is the main entrance, through a cantilevered walkway over a sunken courtyard. At this level there is the main room, the “living space”, overlooking the indoor garden. A flight of stairs lead the sculptor to the mezzanine, where its exhibition area, the “museum space” is understood as an area to house his main creations and can be seen from the “living space”. On the first floor there is the workshop itself, the working area. On the second floor there is his bedroom, “contemplation space” and a small balcony overlooking the street from which he accesses his house.
